This transit company began with one van and a contract to transport a small group of special needs children. Unfortunately, Kenny Durrett passed away before the vision was fully developed. With determination and foresight, Stephanie was able to carry the torch and slowly build up the company. After the tragic
events surrounding September 11, 2001, Stephanie decided to resign her
position at USAirways and expand on the vision she and her husband had
shared. Stephanie renewed and expanded her contract with Wilkinsburg
School District. She also landed a contract with Steel Valley School
District. With the expansion, her fleet grew to 16 vans and 5 school
buses. To house this growing operation, Stephanie undertook a massive
renovation project at 512 N. Braddock Ave. Pgh, Pa 15208. At this site,
appropriately named SD Transit, Inc. are housed the business office,
garages where all buses and vans are maintained, and a training site
for Safety and CDL classes. |
